Camp Kanuga

This summer we opted for a different family vacation. Instead of packing up and heading to the beach we traveled north to the mountains.
We attended a renewal conference at Camp Kanuga (Episcopal camp and conference center in Hendersonville, NC). The weather was fabulous with highs in the low 80s and lows in the low 60s. The cabins are historic and even without AC they were very comfortable.
The Bishop of Bristol, England was the keynote speaker and he delivered some wonderful messages each morning and night. While we heard him the girls were well taken care of by a staff of great counselors. They learned bible stories, made some GREAT tie dye t-shirts, went swimming and on nature walks and tons more. Both princesses begged to go back next year! In fact, there were a ton of families from our church and it was nice to get to know them better in a smaller venue. Our home church is the Cathedral for the diocese and has upwards of 4 to 5 thousand members. We love the 5 o'clock band and they provided great entertainment for us!
It was wonderful to be able to truly unplug and let go!
I did not even have to cook!
We are already looking forward to next year!

So many kids from the Advent were in attendance
they sang one of the VBS songs for everyone!

If you squint you can see the massive white cross across the lake.
We had morning Eucharist here and it was absolutely breath taking!

Better view of cross.
